Public meeting to discuss Consumer Protection ODR

"A public meeting of the OAS CIDIP Study Group is taking place at the FTC (Room H-481) tomorrow Friday January 15 at 10:00 AM EST. If you are unable to attend in person, teleconferencing will be available (call in numbers 866-707-6355 (or for international 1-517-308-4300) with the passcode 3553774). We intend to continue our discussion of issues relating to choice of law, applicable law, jurisdiction, enforcement of judgments, and dispute resolution that may be considered in the Organization of American States CIDIP process.

We also intend to discuss the two changes we are considering to the U.S. proposal: (1) adding a model law providing alternate dispute resolution for consumer credit and debit card claims; and (2) developing a model implementation online mediation/arbitration arrangement for cross border consumer disputes."

This should be a fascinating discussion, and I encourage everyone interested in consumer protection ODR to attend.
